Always and forever. :)
I haven't read this one yet, but I'm very much intrigued by how Jay has reworked the original tale. Like you mentioned here, I think the whole idea of how her story questions traditional concepts of beauty and beastliness is so interesting. And that's always been the question at the heart of the tale anyway, so I am glad that she's still examining this issue, even if it is in a non-traditional way. And now I'm putting this one on the list, thanks to your iiiiiinteresting review there. I love the dark, and this sounds delightfully so. :)
Thanks!Beth Whttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01898921671895123053noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4932292247636823526.post-31923090652275570372013-09-06T12:55:21.215-04:002013-09-06T12:55:21.215-04:00Like you, I can also appreciate a good twist on a ...Like you, I can also appreciate a good twist on a classic fairy tale (especially when it's a much darker, more grim version). Beautiful prose is yet another one of those things that I MUST have in the books I read. So yeah, it sounds like this one was definitely a winner. I will be adding it to my TBR pile, ASAP! I love books twist things around and make you think a little, which I totally look for in any rendition of Beauty and the Beast.

-P.E. @ The Sirenic CodexAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17045558423044874125noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4932292247636823526.post-41865500365816977362013-09-05T13:58:55.060-04:002013-09-05T13:58:55.060-04:00GAH. And what you had to say about the romance and the writing style makes me REALLY REALLY want to read this one. :D

(ps. tonight i will dream about carnivorous roses. so, thanks for that. ;))Mollihttp://www.onceuponaprologue.netnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4932292247636823526.post-43905479233957177542013-09-05T12:30:43.605-04:002013-09-05T12:30:43.605-04:00All I have to say is you're welcome! <3
I ...All I have to say is you're welcome! <3

I freaking adored the creepy carnivorous roses. I never want them in our world, but they were so created!

And I, too, loved how the beauty and beastliness was all twisted up to show that everyone had a little bit of both beast and beauty in them.

I think that the prologue was absolutely gorgeous and Jay writes beautifully. Her style sucks you in when it gets going and it's just so nice to read because it truly is lyrical, as you said.

And the romance! gah!!!!!! <3 I could not ask for a better one! I love me some Gem and Isra for eternity! I so wish there was a sequel because I don't want to say good-bye, but ah! It's so perfect I don't want a sequel to potentially mess it up!

I'm done now, but I seriously love this book and you now know why. <3
Lilihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13661169246931091833noreply@blogger.com
