Top Ten Literary Names I'd Rename My Dog

Hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

This is Ginger, my horridly spoiled puppy. She is the biggest baby, a huge dork, immensely loveable, friendly to a fault and just about the least aggressive pit bull ever born. I love her infinitely. And yes, she really does sit like that.

I adopted Ginger when she was two years old, and she was already named Ginger. I had all these grand plans before I got a dog of all the wondrous literary names I'd bestow upon her, but when I met her, she was just such a Ginger that I couldn't imagine her named anything else. But for the sake of this TTT, let's pretend that I am going to change her name to something literary.  If I were, these would be the names I'd pick.

(They can't be names that are too refined or noble or delicate, because let's face it, my gallumphing, clumsy, dumb Gingerdog is anything but.)

"WHADDYA MEAN I'M THE MOST ELEGANTEST I PROMISE"

Mogget from Sabriel
I actually call her this sometimes. Yes, I know Mogget is a cat. But it's an adorable name.

Ginger is afraid of cats. It's true.
"CAT??? WHERE????????"

Cather from Fangirl
Like Cather, Ginger suffers from the occasional social anxiety. (This is what the doggo does whenever I watch sports/presidential debates. THEY STRESS HER OUT. Poor scaredy dog).

Luna, Nymphadora, and Molly from the Harry Potter series
ALL BAD ASS LADIES, all with such adorable names that coul suit this big nosed baby.

Her face when I'm eating something without sharing it

Lady from A Game of Thrones
Yes, I know what happens to Lady. But JUSTICE FOR LADY. Also, it's funny, because my Gingerfluff is anything but a lady. You should see her lick her butt. Not to mention fall over every time she tries to take my hardwood floor at a run.

"Whatcha dooooooin?"

Blue from The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater
IT'S SUCH A CUTE NAME. And nobody can sulk/feel as blue as Ginger. Every time I leave home it's like it's the worst day of her whole entire life.

"My life is misery, sheer unrelenting misery"
"ALL IS DESPAIR"

Boo Radley from To Kill a Mockingbird
A squidy schmoopy fluffpuppy named Boo! SO CUTE.

How is that even remotely comfortable

Kitten from The Immortals series by Tamora Pierce
Okay, so in the books, Kitten is a dragon. And, well, Ginger is neither a dragon nor a kitten, but I think a dog named Kitten would be fucking adorable.

Ginger LOVES the Immortals series. She really OTPs Daine and Numair.

Georgia from the Confessions of Georgia Nicolson series
It's practically Ginger anyway

"HIHIHIHIHIHIHIIIII!"

Annabeth from the Percy Jackson series
I'd call her Bananabeth constantly.

She's even bookish!

Lola from Lola and the Boy Next Door
She could pull off a purple wig. She's practically a model.

"Three quarter pose. SMIZE"

Iko from The Lunar Chronicles series
They're both ADORABLE and very pleasant to be around.

HAPPY SUNDOG

Names that are just a touch too elegant for my furlump to handle:
Sansa from A Game of Thrones, Coriel from Summers at Castle Auburn, Isla from Isla and the Happily Ever After, Inej from Six of Crows, Safi from Ttuthwitch

LATER GATORS, Ginger the Dog has very important matters to attend to

  2. Well, this is the cutest version of this post ever. And I always love seeing Ginger. Who, you're right, is the most Ginger to ever Ginger. Even if she doesn't generally do things gingerly.

Awwww, Mogget is an adorable nickname. And Ginger being afraid of cats is so cute I can't.

HIDING GINGER. GAH. MY HEART IS BESPLODING. She also did this when we watched kdrama. Sorry for the squealing, Ginger.

Luna's close, but omg she is such a Ginger.

Ginger has excellent taste in OTPs. Her momma raised her right.

Iko is the best name for a goofy, lovable pet omg.
