Book Haul, or the First One in a Looooooong Time

Yayyy, book hauls! I missed doing these. I haven't done one of these in aaaages, since way before ALA. I had been planning to do one for ALA, but I got SO. MANY. BOOKS. that the idea of linking them all and typing them up was intensely stressful, so I ended up not doing one, and then weeks passed and lo, no book hauls. And yet I was getting books, so I really I was just being a big lazy fail.  (If you are interested in what my ALA book haul was, I Instagrammed my haul here and here.)

Rather than list every book I've bought/been given/received for review in the interim, I'll hit the recent highlights. Because it's been a lot and, erm, I've forgotten. Also I've been very busy GETTING SHELVES and moving the cumbersome contents of my beastly book Himalayas into them after PUTTING THEM TOGETHER MYSELF which is frankly beyond my skillset so it took a lot of effort and swearing and coffee...my point being, all my books are newly organized so it's even harder now to remember which are new.

ANYWAY. BOOKS.

Book Haul, or the One with the Happy Haul-idays!

WOO pun titles ftw! Happy holidays, everybody! Happy winter, Christmas, Chanukah, Festivus, Chrismukkah, Kwanzaa, and any and all holidays or non-holidays you celebrate! Happy Saturday, aka the high holiest of days!

I originally filmed a vlog because this is a particularly EPIC haul that deserves documentation in video form, but my camera decided to be a major Grinch and film without sound (or maybe it was tired of hearing me shriek over the AWESOME BOOKS and just gave up living). So we're going with regular old pictures today for my first book haul in about a month.

Book Haul, or the One in Which I Ardently Admire and Love You

YAY THIS WEEK IS OVER. THANK THE BOOKISH GODS. (It's really been one of those weeks, hasn't it? AT LEAST THERE'S BOOKS!)

Book Haul, or the One Where IT'S NOVEMBER (HOW?)

Happy November 1/All Saints' Day/NaNoWriMo kickoff! If you're a NaNoer like me (aka one of the thousands of poor souls participating in the masochistic blood sport that is National Novel Writing Month), you are probably working on digesting the twelve pounds of Reese's peanut butter cups in your stomach, pouring out a biiiig cup of coffee, and setting up shop at the computer to crank out those first (dreadful) 1,667 words. If not, you're lucky! You'll probably sleep this November! Except then you'll remember that it's already November, which means that October is over, which means that it's almost December, which means it is almost 2015, which means we are living in the god damn FUTURE and soon cars will fly and aliens will come and it's all one step closer to DEATH, my friends.

Happy Saturday?

Ahem. So. Books happened, and these were them:

Book Haul, or the One Where the Slump is Straightened

I finished a book for the first time in a week! I hope it means I'm out of my reading slump and that my blogging will no longer be affected by various less than stellar world happenings. But lovely books in my mailbox always help :)

Book Haul, or the One Where I Give in to Temptation

I accidentally took a wee blogging break this week, mostly Because I was super busy and had fallen BADLY behind on my reading. I'm on vacation right now, which means the books are getting read and the blog is getting back to business.

Harper dumped a bunch of e-galleys on Edelweiss this week. Most of them were sequels to series I hadn't started yet, but two of them... well, they were sequels to series I really ought to quit, morally, ethically, and intellectually. Let's call them Gillian snark bait, shall we? Because I am a truly terrible human, I couldn't resist one of the snark bait series enders, but because I am perhaps making a smidgen of life progress, I did (sort of*) resist the other. HUZZAH!

Book Haul, or the One with All the FLAILING

OOPS. It's been quite a long time since I posted a haul because lazy/forgetful/LOTS OF BOOKS HAPPENED. Because I recently reorganized my huge book stacks, I can't remember which books are new and which aren't, so it's all a big mess. Whatever. Here are some of the books I've gotten lately!

Book Haul, or the One in Which I'm Still Really Lazy

I mean to film another vlog this week with all the books I got in London but... well, I'm still really lazy, so here are the books I received this week and the vlog will get pushed to next week and OH WELL. Also this week was a pretty good week for me, bookwise. I did not go too crazy with the buying.

Book Haul, or the One That's Fierce

I'M BACK FROM MY TRIP. I've been gone approximately a thousand years (okay, it was more like three weeks, but it FELT long) and I almost cried with joy yesterday upon returning to my natural habitat: my couch, with my puppy by my side. I'M NEVER LEAVING HOME AGAIN.

I got tons of books on my trip, but I was too lazy/plane-y/jetlagged to film that particular haul, so instead here are pictures of the huge book mail that awaited me upon my return!

Book Haul, or the One with the Red, White and Books

Still waiting on the missing mystery package (le sob) BUT a very exciting package is coming for me on Tuesday and I am literally counting down the hours (and damn near close to counting down the seconds because EEEE IT'S COMING). But I bought myself some loverly reads this week:

Book Haul, or the One with the Missing Package

This week has been a rough one for me. I suffered through the most tragic of first world book blogger problems: a lost package. With a BOOK inside it. A book that is now floating somewhere in UPS limbo, trying to find its way home to me. *sniff*

With any luck the package--which was mistakenly mis-addressed by one tiny number, meaning UPS had no idea who I was any longer--will appear. In the meantime, here are this week's other goodies:

Book Haul, or the One With All the Catch-Up

Not to be confused with ketchup. (Or catsup, if you're weird) (No offense) (but honestly, catsup?)

So I filmed a vlog which was obviously the greatest vlog to ever be filmed... and then it got dumped. Whomp whomp. But it was actually less tragic and more serendipitous, since I then realized I'd left out a good chunk of the books I've gotten this week. And then I looked back even further and realized that I've forgotten to put a ton of books in my hauls this month, so this is the week where I go in a rectify past mistakes. I'm so good at lifing.

Book Haul, or the One With All the BEA Books

I'M BACK FROM BEA! And I'm... exhausted! However, the blogging show must go on, so here are the books I snagged at Book Expo America. In the vlog I'll list my top ten books of BEA, share which book caused a Hunger Games situation, and clasp my number one most anticipated read to my cheek, like normal people do. Below that, I'll show you every single book I got while I was in New York!

Book Haul, or the One Where I'm in New York, New York!

I AM HERE! I'm in New York with Christina from A Reader of Fictions, gearing up for BEA! We survived thunder storms, 4 am wake up calls, delayed flights, redirected flights, and celebrity sightings (KEN JEONG WAS ON MY FLIGHT, Y'ALL) and finally made it safe and sound.

Books received for review:

From Macmillan:

The Scandalous Sisterhood of Prickwillow Place by Julie Berry

From Disney Hyperion:

1756681412483970

Midnight Thief by Livia Blackburne
Dark Metropolis by Jaclyn Dolamore

This delightful package arrived at my house the day I left for the airport, aka after I had left for the airport, but c'est la vie. I shall stroke them once I arrive home with my BEA haul in tow. These were two of my MUST HAVESSS books and I'm so so thrill to now haves them.
