Looking Forward: April

Sometimes it's really hard for me to keep track of what comes out what month, especially while juggling early reviews and publisher catalogues and all the other confusing bookish things bloggers deal with. It's just a LOT OF BOOKS ALL THE TIME. How do you ever keep them straight?! So on the last day of the month, I post a guide to what books I'm most looking forward to in the following month and that you should keep an eye on. So, since it's the last day in March (AHHHH IT'S ALMOST APRIL I TURN 24 IN APRIL I DON'T LIKE IT LET'S GO BACKWARDS), here are the April releases most tempting me:

Featured book of the month:

Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
I love this book SO. SO. SO. MUCH. It's pure joy, this book. It's cuter than cookies and more satisfying than Oreos and SHIP SO SHIP.

None of the Above by I.W. Gregorio
This book is about an intersex girl learning to deal with that and what it means to her overall identity and basically DIVERSITY FTW. Not just that, though: it's also a great read that made me super emotional.

Lies I Told by Michelle Zink
A girl from a family of thieves? Yes please!

The Queen of Bright and Shiny Things by Ann Aguirre
Not sure who started the trend of post-its on YA covers, but I like it.

I Am Her Revenge by Meredith Moore
That title is just so deliciously threatening.

April 14th

All the Rage by Courtney Summers
More like all the FEMINIST rage

April 21st

Conspiracy of Blood and Smoke by Anne Blankman
Sequel to Prisoner of Night and Fog, which was one of my faaaavorite books of all of 2014. MUST-READ.

Becoming Jinn by Lori Goldstein
I totally thought this was coming out in May and had a tiny panic when I realized NOPE, APRIL BOOK. (My schedule is a disaster). But I'm super not mad at the current mini-genie trend happening in YA. Not mad at all.

An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir
Everyone and their grandmother is talking about this book, but why WOULDN'T you, when it has empires and blood and betrayal and All Good Things?

The Girl at Midnight by Melissa Grey
I enjoyed reading this book so much. It's the perfect love child of Cassandra Clare and Laini Taylor, which sounds weird but totally works, I promise.

Magonia by Maria Dahvana Headley
I LOVED THIS BOOK. It's totally off it's rocker, but it's bursting with VOICE and happens to feature SAILING SHIPS IN THE SKY. Ships. Up in. The. Freaking. Sky.

Rook by Sharon Cameron
I don't know too much about this except that it seems to be a sci fi-ish retelling of The Scarlet Pimpernel? Possibly? Yes? Whatever, sign me up.

The Secrets We Keep by Trisha Leaver
First line from the synopsis: A girl takes over her identical twin's identity. I dearly miss The Lying Game and cannot get enough of this shit.

Lying Out Loud by Kody Keplinger
LOVED. THIS. It was my fave Keplinger book so far. It's a companion to The Duff and will probably be best enjoyed by those who've read that, but it totally stands on it's own.

What books are YOU most looking forward to in April?
