I'm not sure why I haven't done one of these in a while, other than the fact that my personal life has been hectic/stressful/crazypants lately, which is why I've been pseudo-absent from Twitter as well. But anyway, let's do a roundup of the posts I've posted in the last couple weeks, the bookish articles floating around the interwebs, and, naturally, the giveaways!
On the blog:
-We discussed the best ways to bust out of a reading rut
- I listed ten of my favorite sidekick best friends
- I reviewed Origin by Jessica Khoury
- I reviewed (and swooned over) Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
- We had a very scientific and worthy discussion about what makes reading about YA bad boys so good
- My blogging buddy Lili and I introduced March Fantasy Month!
So far, I've reviewed Graceling by Kristin Cashore and Prophecy by Ellen Oh
- I listed series I NEED to Start Reading
- I read and reviewed The Prince by Kiera Cass
That last review gave me an idea, one that was also shared by the lovely Kirsten, who commented on the post. Would anybody be interested in me doing a readalong/chapter-by-chapter review thing of Modelland by Tyra Banks? Because I think it would be great fun, but most people are a lot nicer than I am.
Articles (some of which are old because I haven't done one of these in so long!):
- The authors of the Beautiful Creatures series speak out about why paranormal YA is nothing to sneer at (via Time Entertainment)
- Are these the six oddest book titles of the year? My particular favorite is Goblinproofing One's Chicken Coop. You have no idea how many times I've had to keep those pesky goblins away from my chickens. (via The Bookseller)
- Thirty gorgeous and DELICIOUS literary cakes! (via Flavorwire)
- Seven book dedications that basically say SCREW YOU (via Mental Floss)
- Ten redesigned book covers even better than the originals. That Fahrenheit 451 cover is the coolest thing I have ever seen (via Mental Floss)
-Well, this just basically does my job for me. Here are 100 essential sites for voracious readers (via Masters in English)
-As always, Stacked has brilliant things to say about high fantasy and which HF books are essential reading (via stackedbooks.org)
