Top Ten Fictional Families I'd Like to Celebrate Thanksgiving With

hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

Walkin' into Thanksgiving like

AMERICAN THANKSGIVING, my second most favoritest holiday, and that is 1000% because of all the pie. This is the high holiday of gluttons, and I am nothing if not a glutton. Nothing makes me feel more patriotic than when I'm stuffing my face and my brain cells turn off and I stop thinking like a real American and essentially transform into Joey Tribbiani

sounds reasonable

So, prepare for the unapologetic onslaught of Friends gifs, because it's THANKSGIVING

1. THE WEASLEYS.
I know they're British and don't engage in this very American holiday of ours BUT I WANT MRS. WEASLEY TO MAKE ME PIES and omg magical Thanksgiving and all the Weasleys in autumn-themed sweaters PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE. Mrs. Weasley would definitely stuff me so full I'd need Thanksgiving pants

2. The Garretts from My Life Next Doorby Huntley Fitzpatrick
THERE'S JUST SOMETHING ABOUT BIG COZY LOVING FAMILIES. They'd probably have a very huge, very messy pie that the little kids helped to bake, and somebody probably added marshmallows and cereal even though there wasn't supposed to be any and it will end up like Rachel's trifle, and Alice will sigh and Mr. Garrett will laugh and it will be PRECIOUS.

3. The Everdeens
You just KNOW Peeta is going to have all the best baked goods on the block (also you just know they call themselves the Everdeens and not the Mellarks). MAY THE PIES BE EVER IN MY FAVOR

4. The Glass family from Unspoken by Sarah Rees Brennan
Claire can back and Jon can crack wise and, AGAIN, I know they're British, but honestly I feel like every American holiday needs a dose of British wit. If Claire asks everyone at the table to share what they're thankful for this year, Jon and Kami will just crack wise for 20 minutes and Angela will wordlessly get up and leave the table

5. Kaz's crew from Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
It would be the weirdest international fantasy Thanksgiving full of surly silent people, and there probably wouldn't be a lot of food unless Kaz and Inej steal an entire restaurant or something, but I still want it so much. Matthias would tell stories about ice and honor and riding reindeers, idk, and Nina would wear something fabulous, and Jesper would eat everything and Wylan like a cute little puppy that's just happy to be at the table and Kaz would be trying so hard not to have an emotion and I'd be having all the emotions

6. The Song-Covey clan from To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han
THANKSGIVING COOKIESSSSSSS and possibly/probably something with at least Korean flavor profiles for the savory courses, and the Song girls will decorate and everything will look Pinterest perfect, with autumn leaves on the tables and everybody in fall colors and the room lit by crimson candles and GAH why can't my life look like this

this gif is just really important

7. 300 Fox Way, with bonus Lynches, a Gansey, and a Parrish, from The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater
I started to concoct a little fan fiction dream sequence about what a MARVELOUS EVEN THIS WOULD BE, but then i started to get all emotional imagining the utterly bizarre things they cook up at 300 Fox Way, and how Gansey is secretly horrified by their concoctions but also so intrigued, especially because Blue invents a yogurt pie that Ronan categorically refuses to eat (and you just know he's missing the what were no doubt CATALOGUE PERFECT Thanksgiving meals the Lynch clan used to eat) and then there's Adam who probably has never had a proper Thanksgiving in his life, and then there's Noah who can't eat anything and

I need to go eat some pie for my emotions because whoops, I fan ficced

8. The of Abroi clan from Froi of the Exiles and Quintana of Charyn by Melina Marchetta
I can't say much more because of SPOILERS but oh my god these beautiful and fucked up precious people I will dine with you any day I will make you my pies I will open my kitchen to you and I'll try not to sob all over you

Ross, experiencing Lumatere-level tragedies as usual

9. The Spiers from Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
GAH, I bet Simon and co are so much fun during the holidays. He and his sisters fight and his dad cracks lame jokes and there is OREO PIE for dessert and gimmmmeeee

10. The Rampion crew
Only Thorne is technically America, but omg, how adorable would a big Thanksgiving meal with all my fave space ships be? Scarlet would rule the kitchen, Iko would try to help, Cress would be no help because she probably literally has never eaten a turkey before but is probably very excited, Winter would probably start talking to the turkey like it was an old friend, Kai would be completely disturbed by this, Thorne and Cinder would be fighting over the TV (she wants to watch football, he wants to watch the parade in case they have a float in his honor which THEY SHOULD), Wolf is probably hovering freakishly close to wherever Scarlet is, and Jacin is...I don't know, standing somewhere being very handsome, i imagine. Mostly I just want to eat Scarlet's desserts. And watch Wolf eat six turkeys by himself.

Wow, that was a lot of Thanksgivings all in a row. I feel like a Gilmore.

  5. So many Friends gifs, I love it!!! I'm not American, so if I want to eat I have to do it without a good reason... It's a struggle. The Weasleys would be so perfect cooking for you, and the night would be so loud and so much fun!

  7. I knew I could count on you for Friendsgiving gifs!!! They really should release a dvd of just the Thanksgiving eps. They're the BEST. Hopefully TBS does another marathon this year :D "More turkey, Mr. Chandler?"

Oooooh Peeta's pies :D And other baked goods! Good call. The Weasleys would have an amazing Thanksgiving! I can picture it now. Simon's family would be the BEST! I loved their Christmases! And the Rampion crew, yessss. I have this thought that Thorne tries to make up all this amazing stuff about Thanksgiving and Cinder just keeps shutting him down with her cyborg brain facts hahah. But they'd all have an amazing meal together, your headcanon is so right on :) 300 Fox way is where it's at!!! I love everything you wrote. Perrrrrfect. SO MANY LOVELY THANKSGIVINGS!!!

  14. I've never celebrated Thankgiving properly, because the only time I've been in the US during that time I had to look everywhere to find somewhere open to have dinner and we ended up in Little Italy (San Francisco) in an Italian restaurant run by a lady from Barcelona and her Italian bf.

I'd love to share a Thanksgiving dinner with the Rampion crew too!!
