Um, I don't know if the girls at The Broke and the Bookish are stalking me, or something, but today, June 4, 2013, I will LITERALLY be on a PLANE flying home from BEA. So. Talk about timely.
(Okay, obviously they're not stalking me. Obviously they're thinking about all the hundreds of people who flew/are flying home from BEA. But still. SPOOKY.)
While putting this list together, I realized I don't actually read that many travel-related books, even though I love them and travel in general (I've been to 30 countries, 5 continents, and 17 states). Obviously I need to read some more. Reading about travel, especially over the summer, is the best way to take a stay-cation-- aka going on a trip without having to leave your bedroom!
1. The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith (my review)
Please let this happen to me on the plane today. PLEASE LET THIS HAPPEN.
2. Meant to Be by Lauren Morrill
My review of this is going up very soon, but basically I thought it was ALL kinds of adorable.
3. Just One Day by Gayle Forman
Another review that's coming up. Suffice it to say, Gayle Forman never misses in the awesome department.
4. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins (my review)
Yeah, this is probably the millionth time I've raved about
5. Wanderlove by Kristen Hubbard
Globe-trotting done GLORIOUSLY well. Gosh, I love this book.
6. Amy & Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson
I LOVE road trips. I've always wanted to go on a proper one and fall in love, which is what I assume happens on all road trips.
7. 13 Little Blue Envelopes by Maureen Johnson
Ginny manages to go to like five European countries, and she does them all awesomely.
8. Decked with Holly by Marni Bates (my review)
The cutest, fluffiest, funniest cruise-ship read ever. Reality, it has no place here, but from what I've gathered, reality is highly overrated.
9. Valkyrie Rising by Ingrid Paulson (my review)
Norway seems like an awesome place to spend the summer, especially if you turn out to be a mythical Norse being of old (though I would make a crappy Valkyrie. Unless they need a token short, awkward Valkyrie? To guard the horses, or something? CALL ME, VALKYRIES!)
10. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares
WHERE IS MY KOSTOS???
MG Bonus: Bloomability by Sharon Creech
This book, about a young American girl who goes to school in the Swiss Alps, was one of my childhood favorites (Guthrie!).
Classic Bonus: A Room with a View by E.M. Forster
I don't know about you, but I feel like this is what Florence should always be like:
Yesssss.
OMG how could I have forgotten A Room With a View?! *scrambles off to edit her TTT* I loooooooooove that book and Lucy's wanderings around Florence <3

ohhh sisterhood of the traveling pants is a great pick!!! Check out Our TTT ~Katie @ Inkk
ReplyDeleteI have only read a handful of these titles but I'm a big fan and put them on my list too! Guess I need to get to the other ones that you mentioned too!

Loving the cover of Room with a View. But I've only read Anna from your list.
ReplyDeleteWanderlove is my favorite contemporary novel at this point, hands down. I saw it on another list and now here and YAY *fist pump*. It was the ultimate travel book!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of the books on your list. Which is sad, because they are some really stunning pieces I'm sure. Stephanie Perkin's books - I need to read, like, real soon.

Bloom ability is one of my favorite books! I've reread it so many times!
ReplyDeleteAnna, Wanderlove, and the Sisterhood made my list, too. I've heard great things about Just One Day and Meant to Be. Great list!
ReplyDeleteNatflix&Books
So many books here I have on my TBR/wish list. And I added Anna and Just One Day to my list as well. :)
ReplyDeleteCool list!
Okay, that does it. I'm making a summer reads list because Anna and the French Kiss and Wanderlove absolutely must be on there. Amy & Roger's Epic Detour too. Great list. :)
ReplyDeleteBonnie @ Sweet Tidbits
Haha. I also included Decked with Holly. Who needs it to be realistic? It is a super cute, fluffy read.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I forgot to include Anna and the French Kiss, though. Grr.
Wow. You have been a lot of places! Also the ladies can't stalk you! That's my job!
ReplyDeleteExcellent list as always!
If my life was like Room with a View, it would be a very good one indeed. :P
ReplyDeleteLOVED The Statistical Probability...one of my favorite books of last year. Anna is just one of my favorite books EVER. And I'm loving Valkyrie Rising. Such a great setting!
I haven't read all the books on your list, but I do have a couple of them on my shelf. I'll get there!

My Top Ten
You haven't read many travel books? If I made this list I'd have ONE contemp or so in the pile. All my travel would be coming from Fantasy.....O.O I'm slacking.

Oh my goodness, Bloomability! I loved that back in the day!
ReplyDeleteI love travel books SO much. It's hard to pick a favorite but Wanderlove is my all time!!! LOVE IT!!
