As usual, I've gone over ten, but do you know how HARD it is to only list ten? How do other people DO it? Ten is so SMALL. To keep myself at least close to ten, I focused only on the books I do not own or have ARCs of but that are coming out in September, October, or November (which means I can't scream NEW TAMORA PIERCE BOOK NEW TAMORA PIERCE BOOK or THESE BROKEN STARS I CANNOT WAIT TO DIVE IN except oh look I just did). Just for reasons. Basically, these are the books at the top of my "to buy" list.
1. Red by Alison Cherry
I've always wanted to be a redhead, and this book may be the thing that finally convinces me to do or dye trying (BADUM BUM).
2. Perfect Ruin by Lauren DeStefano
Pretty cover. Pretty premise. I wants.
3. Premeditated by Josin L. McQuein
I've wanted this book ever since I read its prospective query on Query Shark a million years ago. AND NOW IT'S COMING.
4. Untold by Sarah Rees Brennan
Which of my ships will sail? (None, if I know Sarah. Or all. I can't decide). Who will die and destroy my soul? (Everyone, if I know Sarah).
5. Goodbye, Rebel Blue by Shelley Coriell
I've hear nothing but good things about Coriell's first novel, and this one just looks and sounds amazing. Also: cover. LOOK AT IT.
6. Palace of Spies by Sarah Zettel
British history + mystery = Gillian's happy place.
7. The Brokenhearted by Amelia Kahaney
The Dark Knight meets Cinder. While the fact that it's packaged by Alloy Entertainment makes me nervous, I'm willing to give this a shot for its AWESOME premise.
8. This Wicked Game by Michelle Zink
One word: voodoo.
9. Shadows by Robin McKinley
I've loved many Robin McKinley books, and considering this is set in "a compelling and inventive novel set in a world where science and magic are at odds"... I NEED IT.
10. Exile (Keeper of the Lost Cities 2) by Shannon Messenger
I had mixed feelings about the first book in this series, but ultimately I was charmed by it. I'm excited to get to book two and find out if Sophie a) kisses one of her many boyfriends, or b) gains a new superpower. Since, you know, a million isn't enough for one thirteen-year-old elf.
11. Allegiant by Veronica Roth
Well, duh. Big final installment to big, highly-hyped series.
12. Champion by Marie Lu
Ditto above.
I have that first one. And turned down Perfect Ruin. You know how I feel about Allegiant. *eyes you*
ReplyDeleteoh Champion another I totally forgot!
ReplyDeleteMy Top Ten
Premeditated is also one I cannot wait to read! Great list!
ReplyDeleteAlmost all of these book are on my mental TBR, is not my official FOR FALL TOP TEN TUESDAY list. So clearly there's a lot for both of us to be excited about this fall.
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of every single pick on this list. Also I think you could totally pull off rocking red hair! You should do it!
ReplyDeleteMy TTT
Perfect Ruin is the epitome of what I want in a book. Gorgeous cover, lovely character names, and an intriguing synopsis! ;D
ReplyDeleteEvery time I think of The Lynburn Legacy, my heart hurts. So much feeeeelllsss. SARAH REES BRENNAN DOESN'T WANT US TO HAVE GOOD THINGS.
Not to burst your bubble or anything, but I tried reading THE BROKENHEARTED...and it's kind of terrible. LOL! I DNF it. I mean. Maybe you'll like it. I just couldn't take the writing.
ReplyDeleteAlso, have you read Josin McQuein's ARCLIGHT? ZOMG SO GOOD! I wasn't expecting much from it, but it totally blew my mind with its amazingness. I'm excited for PREMEDITATED as well, just because she wrote it.
Wow. All of those look intriguing. And NONE of them are on my list (yet). How has this happened?
ReplyDeleteVery excited about Allegiant. So excited it's right around the corner. I have heard Brokenhearted is horrible and that makes me so sad. I'm still going to try to read it anyways. I'm very intrigued by Untold. Not sure it's on my list yet...need to check on that.
ReplyDeleteMy Friends Are Fiction's TTT
Same problem. I'm really not good at this "limiting it to ten" thing. Especially if it's about books, or fictional crushes, or film adaptations, or everything apparently. I need to work on my brevity skills.
ReplyDeleteI dyed my hair red once. It was really, really red. Not natural at all. I have pictures somewhere. Maybe one day they'll see the light. About the book, I've always been a bit on the fence about reading it. I also find it funny that her last name is Cherry and that she wrote a book titled "Red", but maybe that's just me.
Eventually to Allegiant, probably to The Lynburn Legacy, yes to Premeditated, yes to Goodbye, Rebel Blue, HELL YES to Champion. Pretty, pretty cover and probably feels-breaking story. I need more Day in my life.
CHAMPION! yes! :)
ReplyDeleteI read Untold, and lemme tell you, prepare your feelings! SRB is evil!!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to get my hands on Perfect Ruin!! Allegiant I'll have to read to finish the series and hope it'll fix what I didn't like in Insurgent. And once the trilogy is completed with Champion, I think I'd read it.
Awesome list! We have so many of the same books =D I am actually the most excited for Untold though, already pre-ordered and can't wait to get it!
ReplyDeleteI am DYING to get my hands on Shadows and Untold. Like I might actually have a heart attack from anticipation before they ever come out.
ReplyDeleteAwesome list :D I loved Exile. <3 dying for Perfect Ruin and Allegiant and Champion :D Hope you will love all of these when you get to read them. <3
ReplyDeleteYup and bigger Yup to your #'s 11 and 12. I'm also excited to read Palace of Spies (which was briefly on NG, and I was lucky enough to snag it) and The Broken-Hearted.
ReplyDeleteStephanie @ Inspiring Insomnia
Red sounds really odd and good to me, I hadn't heard much about it before this! And wow, Premeditated sounds amazing and chilling! Shadows sounds interesting, too! I need to make a point to read every McKinley book. I'm looking forward to Allegiant, too! Great list!
ReplyDeleteKaty @ a blighted one
Keeping it to ten IS really hard. But your list is AWESOME. I want to read most of these, AND I'd never even heard of Palace of Spies but it's on my TBR now!

My Top Ten Tuesday
A couple of these are totally new to me: Shadows and Palace of Spies.
ReplyDeleteWow, Premeditated is finally coming out? I've had this on to-read list for so freaking long!
I so approve of Goodbye, Rebel Blue, Red, Allegiant (of course) and The Brokenhearted.
Allow me to be the next push toward making you a redhead! I went auburn/red my junior year of high school and loved the way it looked even though the dye washed out quickly and I had to get it redone so regularly. Your hair color isn't far off from mine, so it will no doubt look lovely on you too.
ReplyDeleteHad the coblogger not gotten to it first, I totally would have sent you my ARC of Untold because I wanted it gone from my presence. Since I disliked it after liking book one just like I did with the Stormdancer series (which you loved unabashedly), you're certain to love it.
And if you read The Brokenhearted and hate it, you know we're all going to have to laugh at you because there was fair warning. That's what friends are for, dear Gillian! :P
Also, PREMEDITATED MINE. *prays it shows up on Vine because Random House has put a lot of their books on there lately* What the hell are "patience" and "waiting for its release date"? I NEED IT NOW.
I'm really curious about Palace and Spies. It looks like so much fun, and sometimes that's all I want in a book.
ReplyDeleteI still haven't read the first Shannon Messenger book, but I really want to. I"m sorry to hear that you had mixed feelings about it.
Anyway, happy Autumn reading!!!

ReplyDeleteI WANT TO READ RED SOOOON. IT SOUNDS AWESOME. AND PREMEDITATED IS SO AMAZING YOU HAVE NO IDEA IT'S SO GOOD.
Also, I've heard awful things about The Brokenhearted. Awful. Just saying.
The Brokenhearted is from Alloy? Well, nuts.
ReplyDeleteExile is such a pretty cover! I'm intrigued :D
ReplyDeleteMy Fall TBR
I really liked this book myself! It was super cute but I definitely didn't love it as much as The Statistical Probability of First Sight. My biggest struggle was with Ellie's mom being ridiculous and the fact that there really wasn't any resolution to her family issues that it seemed like were the source of the conflict in the book, idk.
ReplyDeleteI will point out that this was actually her 4th book, her first being The Comeback Season and her second being You Are Here. I haven't read The Comeback Season yet, but The Statistical Probability of First Sight is definitely the best, which surprised me since third books are rarely the masterpieces.
I love the cover and premise for Wicked Game – thanks for putting it on my radar! Also, who isn't excited about Allegiant and Champion; I sure am! :-)
ReplyDeleteHeaded to GR to add Palace of Spies and This Wicked Game, because SO THERE. Also I forgot SO MANY, like Premeditated, and Perfect Ruin. GAH. Toooooo many good books coming out.
