I had planned on filming a vlog this week, I honestly did. But then, of course, fate decided to mess with me and tossed a delightful bit of stomach flu my way this week. The silver lining of that unfortunate situation is that I got a lot of reading done this week. Oh, and that I have discovered the new thing I'm going to be insanely, unhealthily obsessed with.
Purchased:
The paperback boxed set of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series
Helloooo, new obsession. I'd never read a word of these books before Wednesday--in fact, a secret evil part of my very evil and very snobby brain sort of always thought they were probably a bit of a Harry Potter knockoff--but now I kind of feel like punching myself in the face. I read the first book in about two days and I'm in love. Thank goodness I had the foresight to buy this GORGEOUS boxed set, because I've already begun The Sea of Monsters. I'm in deep, folks.
For review from Harper:
Say What You Will by Cammie McGovern
Apparently this is not about chairs in love. What a shame. Still, this looks like it could be equal parts heartbreaking and cute, so I'm excited. Though the blurb does bill it as The Fault in Our Stars meets Eleanor & Park. The concept is aping the first, and the cover is aping the latter. So, we'll see.
Ginger hopes you snuggle up and stay warm this weekend.
"Excuse me, ma'am, do yo know how fast your books were going? |
Aaaaah, I can't even!! The cuteness!! I love Ginger!
ReplyDeleteAnd yay for finally giving a chance to Percy Jackson! I adored them way back when and always feel like re-reading them when someone starts mentioning the funny bits!
Happy reading!
Lots of awesome this week :D Hope you love it all sweetie. <3 And ahh. I need to start that boxset too :D
ReplyDeleteYay for Percy Jackson! That box set is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteSay What You Will sounds really good (and I definitely don't mind more covers in the vein of Eleanor and Park, since that is one of my favorite covers ever).
Happy Reading!
Ooooh Percy Jackson. I have yet to read those and I hear I am missing out. I will be stalking your updates with much glee.
ReplyDeleteYes to the Say What You Will cover being distinctly Eleanor & Park-ish, however this makes me pre-love it so good on it.
SNUGGLY GINGER IN SUNGLASSES!! THE CUTENESS IS UNBEARABLE.
I hope you're feeling better!
Hahaha I've been a fan of the Percy Jackson series since middle school, when those novels were jointly owned by essentially everyone in my friend group, and we all just swapped them around! I can't imagine those transitory years without them. And since my little brother just started up middle school, I made him read them all over the past summer, and then my 18-year-old sister is reading them now! :) So happy to see such a great series get so much love!
ReplyDeleteI think Ginger has the right idea. Sorry abut you getting the Flu. Hope you get better. Come visit me as well.

I can't believe you haven't read Percy Jackson before now. If had known this, I would have been incessant in nagging you to do so.
ReplyDeleteBoooooooooooo to the flu. This crap is the worst. At least you had the energy to read. I couldn't bring myself even to do that.
Ginger is the cutest.
I love seeing new Percy Jackson fans!!!! The books are just so much fun and each one gets better and better. Enjoy!!!
ReplyDeleteYou have no idea how happy I am that you've joined the wonderful world of Rick Riordan/Percy Jackson fans! I am so ridiculously addicted to everything Percy Jackson... oh my word, you have no idea. I love it! Okay, don't make fun of me, but I even dressed up as Annabeth for Halloween at my store. Ahem. :)
ReplyDeleteYay for you!
I need to read all of those books. Everyone loves them, but I just haven't had the time.

Love love love the Percy Jackson books. They're probably my biggest book addiction. I've tried reading Rick Riordan's other series but I can't seem to like them as much as I love PJO. I have a thing for Greek mythology, though, so that might be the reason.
ReplyDeleteI was SO excited to see you start Percy Jackson. I just started it a few weeks ago with another blogger, and we tweeted our reactions on twitter! I wish you could've been a part of it with us!! I'm sort of ashamed now to admit that my copy of The Lightning Thief sat on my shelf for three years before I was peer pressured into reading it! This is one instance where I'm actually glad I gave into peer pressure! My only mistake was that I only had the first book, and when I was finished, I was dying for book two! I ran around town trying to find it anywhere, and wouldn't you know it, all the stores around here were sold out! I had to settle and wait for Amazon to get them to me, which was TORTURE! But I'm totes excited that you are a new fangirl like me!! I wish I had the pretty box set you have though! *pets* Now, I just REALLY want- no, NEED- a Camp Half Blood shirt!! And the companion series!! :D Great haul, Gillian!!!
ReplyDeleteP.S. YOUR DOG IS SO CUTE!!
