I limited myself only to books published in the first half of 2014. (I cheated once). Every book on this list (but one, because I'm a cheater) is already out. Basically, I have to set myself parameters or I will dump thirty thousand pretty covers on you.
Books I've Read:
A Mad, Wicked Folly by Sharon Biggs Waller
House of Ivy and Sorrow by Natalie Whipple
Everything Leads to You by Nina LaCour
Cress by Marissa Meyer
The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski
The Impossible Knife of Memory by Laurie Halse Anderson
What I Thought Was True by Huntley Fitzpatrick
Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge
Strange and Ever After by Susan Dennard
Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo
Books I Haven't Read:
The covers for Cinder/Scarlet/Cress have been on point all the way through. The cover artist is amazing.
ReplyDeleteI really love Cruel Beauty too. Just a perfect blending of the rose and the staircase. Genius.
They're some good ones! I have no idea how you managed to pick 10 though!! 2014 has been an EPIC cover year so far :)

I just LOVE the cover for Rebel Belle. I think it's close to being my favorite cover ever - I'll have to make a point to read it soon.
ReplyDeleteThe Winner's Curse goes with everything I dislike about a cover -- model, poofy dress -- but I still dig it. I'm not going to question why! Also, I love the UK covers for the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series!
ReplyDeleteI am OBSESSED with the covers for Everything Leads to You, Cruel Beauty, The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows, and The Museum of Intangible Things like to an unhealthy degree. I just want to spend my time staring at them. :) Great list!

Great list! I love most of these too. I'm a huge fan of romantic covers like What I Thought Was True and covers with great typography like The Winner's Curse and Everything Leads To You. I actually don't like the covers for the Lunar Chronicles all that much - they're just okay to me. I think they look flat, I guess.

Such beautiful covers. I know that we shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but I think we all do! I can't wait to read Rebel Belle and Everything Leads To You. Such a pretty cover!
ReplyDeleteGreat selections...my favorite is the Ruin & Rising cover because it is sooo dramatic! I'm also loving the Leslye Walton and Laini Taylor covers as well! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYep, all the covers you have selected are absolutely stunning!! I love the covers for A Mad Wicked Folly and The Winner's Curse the most, but all ARE SO PRETTY!!
ReplyDeleteGreat picks! Some of those made my list too. R x

Oh my gosh, I LOVE the cover for Cress. I think it's my favorite of the series so far. I haven't read Everything Leads to You but I have it out from the library right now, and I agree, that cover is AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteSo many pretty covers!
Buh, the new Laini Taylor covers are so boring. Crows? What do crows gotta do with anything?
ReplyDeleteI love the cover for PROMISE OF SHADOWS. Sooo pretty. FEATHERS!

YEEEESSSSS I LOVE ALL OF THESE. I had my doubts when I first saw DoGaM but it's so shiny and the blue and the stormhunters, the latter of which are featured in some pretty badass scenes in the book, and just ADORE. Ooh Ava Lavender is even prettier IRL because the feather is outlined in gold instead of yellow/orange and SHINY. I really like the Strange and Ever After cover but the model always reminds of Caroline Forbes. This might sounds like a criticism but it actually makes me love it more.
ReplyDeleteI still can't believe I forgot to add Cruel beauty on my list for examples. I love that cover :) Ruin and Rising (and the other books) has one of the best covers. I really like how subtle the Lunar Chronicles covers are, like with Cinder. Everything leads to you has a gorgeous font :)
