Book Haul, or the One Where I Give in to Temptation

I accidentally took a wee blogging break this week, mostly Because I was super busy and had fallen BADLY behind on my reading. I'm on vacation right now, which means the books are getting read and the blog is getting back to business.

Harper dumped a bunch of e-galleys on Edelweiss this week. Most of them were sequels to series I hadn't started yet, but two of them... well, they were sequels to series I really ought to quit, morally, ethically, and intellectually. Let's call them Gillian snark bait, shall we? Because I am a truly terrible human, I couldn't resist one of the snark bait series enders, but because I am perhaps making a smidgen of life progress, I did (sort of*) resist the other. HUZZAH!

For review from Harper Collins on Edelweiss:

The Pretty App by Katie Sise

I haven't read the The Boyfriend App, the companion to this one, but I have it on good authority that it's delightful. So by the time TPA pubs, I plan to have read and enjoyed both!

A Cold Legacy by Megan Shepherd

The third book in the The Madman's Daughter series. I enjoyed book one and had a dramatically negative experience reading book two (to say the least). I probably shouldn't have gotten this, but I am the worst at quitting series. Angel voice logic: I want to give Megan Shepherd another chance, she she is clearly talented and maybe book 3 fixes all the problems of book 2! Devil voice logic: *prepares snark and gifs*

Vanishing Girls by Lauren Oliver

Vanishing cover! I've had a strange road with LOliver (LOl) in that I enjoyed Panic, despite some negatives, and couldn't get into Delirium at all. I have high hopes for Vanishing Girls, since Oliver can most certainly write and I love a good sister story.

Weecap:

I only posted TWICE this week?! Pathetic.

Looking Forward: October, aka a roundup of my most anticipated October releases
Two Year Blogoversary: My Blog's a Toddler!

*Okay, so did I download the other snark bait title, but I won't be reviewing it. So it's kind of like... half progress. Quarter progress? I'm a terrible person.

  1. DRAT. I didn't know HC put up more galleys. Curse you.

But I'm totally depending on you to report back on The Pretty App. It looks like the kind of book that could go either way for me.

  3. DAMN IT I MISSED VANISHING GIRLS.

That's probably for the best, my EW TBR is out of control.

Also, so pumped for The Pretty App, I just love the cover.

  4. I had the same experience with The Madman's Daughter books, so thanks for being a guinea pig in the great experiment of Is Megan Shepard Going to Fix the BS of Book 2 and Make Me Like Her Again?
Also looking forward to hearing about Vanishing Girls (I didn't care for Delirium much and so didn't read Panic, but now perhaps I should).
