Vlog Review: Allegiant by Veronica Roth

This is my first ever vlog review, so bear with me a bit. Ginger the dog makes an appearance, because she cannot resist a camera, shameless attention whore that she is. And I reenact my Allegiant-induced ugly sobbing for you guys. So, that's fun.

NOTE: The second half of this video CONTAINS HUGE SPOILERS FOR Allegiant. The first half is spoiler-free, but the bulk of this video is MOST DECIDEDLY NOT.

  1. Well, now I am interested to read this although at the same time I'm dreading it, especially those first 200 pages...I can't really comment on much without spoilers. I hope this isn't too spoilery to say: the only explanation of the "world" that would have been believable for me would be if the tests turned out to be flawed, and everyone was somewhat divergent/had the potential to be divergent. I read the first book sort of thinking that in my head....

  2. GILLIAN!! YOU LIED, YOU SLY MINX.

I think you should do vlog reviews more often. I lurved it. The way Georgia lurrrves pants. That's a whole lot of lurrrve.

Okay, so I'm glad I know the spoilers (I already knew them, so no worries) because they actually make me want to read Allegiant. (Agree with you on the title, btw, though I had a preference for Convergent.) Before I was pretty "meh, we'll see, one day, damn you need-to-finish tendencies" but now I genuinely want to read it. I read the previous books to relax during exam period. I think I'm going to do the same with Allegiant.

I liked a lot of what you said. Well, we always knew the explanation was going to be sketchy. Even when finishing Insurgent, I just thought: "That was it? That was THE BIG REVEAL?" I don't know why everyone was so terrified of the truth getting out. Maybe I just didn't get it. Insurgent was not good, in my opinion =/

The movie, however, looks promising. Just like your mini-movie up there. Do it more often. I like it.

  3. You made some really awesome points! And you said it very well, too. I don't want to risk spoilers by saying anything accidentally, but great job! I agree with you on pretty much everything except the major big spoiler... I didn't cry, but I hated it :(

Also, you need to stop bringing your dog on camera! It distracts me and I forget about what you're talking about! .. Actually, keep bringing her on cause she's ADORABLE! Hahaha :) Love the little puppy noises she made when you were scratching her ears!!

  4. Yeah, I love your review. <3 I gave it three stars too. Posted a whole bunch of spoilers in my written review as well :) After the warning, that is ;p lol. Thank you for sharing Gillian :D (But, uhm, I do not agree with you about Tris. Hated her so much in this, lol (A) but I do understand your feelings. Kind of.)

  5. Okay so I finished it yesterday and like you I gave it 3 stars. I found a big chunk of it to be verrrry boring and I was pretty frustrated with it. Yet the last 100 pages or so were brilliant. Up until the ending I was convinced that it was going to be the other MC.You brought up a lot of good points. Stuff I didn't think about until I was watching the video.I loved seeing Tobias's vulnerability. Plus Tris rocked. Big time.
