Guess who was too lazy to film a vlog again this week? Why, Ginger, of course! That dog. She's just incorrigible.
Books received for review this week:
Lies We Tell Ourselves by Robin Talley (Thanks, Harlequin!)
Ahhhhhh! So excited for this! It's a f/f romance set during segregation in the South between a white girl and a black girl, and I've been excited for this long before it even had a cover! When i saw it was on Edelweiss, I just had to grab it. One of my most anticipated titles of the fall by far.
Books purchased:
Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery
I saw this gorgeous edition on Amazon and simply had to have it, since my childhood version is somewhere in stoage and it was just a trade paperback. But this. This is glorious and I accidentally started rereading it instead of reading review books. But how was I supposed to stop? Gilbert showed up! He's one of the literary loves of my life, after all.
Prisoner of Night and Fog by Anne Blankman
I loved this book as an e-galley so much that I just had to buy a finished copy. And it's soooo pretty. The cover is smooth and the font is raised and glossy. So pretty.
Gifts from Gaby at Queen Ella Bee Reads:
Scarlet by A.C. Gaughen and The Archived by Victoria Schwab swag
I love my Downton Gaby and was so happy to get this birthday swag from her! <33
Weecap:
I forgot to do a weekly recap last book haul, so lucky you, getting two for the price of one! This week:
On Sunday, I talked about how I judge books by their covers, for right and for wrong
On Monday, I reviewed The Last Best Kiss by Claire LaZebnik
On Tuesday, I listed the top ten characters in need of an intervention letter
On Wednesday, I reviewed Prisoner of Night and Fog by Anne Blankman
On Friday, I talked about my favorite kiss scenes and what makes them so great
Last Sunday was Easter Sunday, and while I don't celebrate Easter exactly, I do celebrate chocolate and candy and eggs, so of course I had to make some chocolate eggs for myself! I made peanut butter-filled chocolate eggs, and then I painted my large chocolate eggs Pride and Prejudice-themed.
Last week's Weecap:
On Monday, I reviewed The Guard by Kiera Cass
I also made some Percy Jackson-themed cupcakes
On Tuesday, I made my wallet cry by listing all the bookish things I want--no, need--to own.
On Wednesday, I reviewed The Forbidden Library by Django Wexler
On Thursday, I talked about my love for The Immortals series by Tamora Pierce
On Friday, I reviewed To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han
And now some Ginger pics:
My dog loves nothing more than to lie in a patch of sun.
Good thing she's got sunglasses!
Oh my gosh, Ginger is a cutie pie. I have a dog named Ginger two. However did you get Ginger to wear those sunglasses long enough to get a picture? It's adorable!
ReplyDeleteAnd you are so right, that copy of Anne of Green Gables is glorious! I haven't read that book in ages, and I'm thinking I should do a re-read. I've definitely been interested in Prisoner of Night and Fog. I need to look into it.
Happy reading!
Awwww, Ginger is sooooo cute!!
ReplyDeleteOk, I think I now need that edition of Anne of Green Gables! *goes to check if Amazon ES has it*
Also, wow miss, those Pride and Prejudice eggs look amazing! Great job!
Happy reading!!
Lucky you! I've always wanted to read Anne of Green Gables and also recently Prisoner of Night & Fog. The cover of Anne looks really really cool! I really like the redesign! AND LOOK AT THOSE PRIDE AND PREJUDICE EGGIES!
ReplyDeleteHave a happy reading week Gillian! (And Ginger ahaha)
Ginger is so cute <3 <3
ReplyDeleteThose P&P eggs, I wants them. Also, Ginger looks so badass in sunglasses.
ReplyDeleteI'm really jealous of the finished copy of PRISONER OF NIGHT AND FOG, but at least I have an ARC <3
ReplyDeleteI really want to read Lies We Tell Ourselves, but I have to read other books that are releasing soon. I'm probably going to end up cheating my schedule!
ReplyDelete-Scott Reads It!
Aww, I like your dog. :) Mine love patches of sun, and on cloudy days they get wild without their sun naps. I am blown away by the P&P eggs. Way to pretty to eat!
ReplyDeleteThat Anne cover is so pretty! It reminds me of those paper cut out art pieces (like this: http://www.smashingmagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/PaperArt99.jpg).
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, also Gilbert. The world is regretfully lacking in Gilbert-clones.
The Prisoner of Night and Fog is amazing! I have it on my Kindle, but I think I'm going to have to buy it on hardback too. The author said it's a duology, and I'm very curious about where the second book will end.
