Book Haul Vlog, or the One With the First of the Birthday Books
I skipped doing a haul last week, which was a VERY BAD MOVE, since now I have a huge amount of books all crammed into one post. Whatever. I never claimed to be a planning genius. But I also didn't know that so many of my blogging friends would be so incredibly awesomely kind and send me so many birthdays gifts. This has been a busy but awesome week (lots of vet visits, boo. BEA press badge approval, yay!).

Ooh! I absolutely LOVED The Lumatere Chronicles. That series is a bit heavier than other fantasies I've read, but I loved it so, so much. I hope you enjoy it too! (Also, happy birthday!)
ReplyDeletePAIN. YOU FORGOT PAIN. THERE IS SO MUCH PAIN IN THE LUMATERE BOOKS. Which is also large part of the reason why we want you to read it so badly because SHARE OUR PAIN, GILLIAN. I love how the weapons shine on the covers. This probably makes me sound like a murderer, but oh well.
ReplyDeleteAlso, major props for your Marchetta pronunciation. I've been saying it wrong for so long (hey! rhyme!) and I am deeply ashamed. The funny thing is that she leaves clues in her book as to how the names are supposed to be pronounced. Froi is supposed to rhyme with boy, so YOU WERE CORRECT. Quintana is with a kw sound, I think. I also think you're going to like her humour. Also, sassy Froi.
Haaaaa, I love how you're still cracking up about having bought a finished copy of the Melissa de la Cruz book. QUELLE SURPRISE. Also, I first misinterpreted the "they like Freaky Friday" thing and thought they genuinely liked the movie, which, WHO KNOWS. Also, I say also too much.
"Never be afraid to find like a girl." Going to add that to my pillow fort and omg I adore A.C. Gaughen so much for writing that. Lili is amazing for getting you those signed editions!
PIPER PIPER THE PIPER'S SON. We need to discuss Tara, Tom and the attic when you've read it. It's between a sequel and a companion novel. It still involves the same people as Saving Francesca, but the perspective has shifted from Francesca to Tom and his aunt Georgia and they're also a few years older than in Saving Francesca. Tom is such a loveable asshole and my second favourite Marchetta boy, because no one trumps Froi. (I'm talking not talking Froi from book one for obvious reasons you still have to discover (though, who knows, you and your spoiler-hoarding (parenthesinception)))
I'm so sorry about the mouthful of blog name words. HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY GILLIAN. I WISH YOU MANY MANY WAFFLES.
The first two egalleys looked beyond interesting and I actually did the same thing with the McGinnis book... lol

Rites of Passage Looks amazingggg. So does In a Handful of Dust but I still need to read Not a Drop to Drink. Might wait and binge those two. Speak!!! Enough said. I still need to read Shatter Me - I was supposed to binge read that trilogy in March for a reading challenge I'm hosting, but I fail and it hasn't happened yet... The Ring and The Crown was ridiculously good! I haven't purchased a finished copy yet but the cover is sooooo gorgeous!
