Looking Forward: May

Brand new feature alert! Sometimes it's really hard for me to keep track of what comes out what month, especially while juggling early reviews and publisher catalogues and all the other confusing bookish things bloggers deal with. It's just a LOT OF BOOKS ALL THE TIME. How do you ever keep them straight?! So from now on, on the last day of the month, I'm going to post a guide to what books I'm most looking forward to in the following month and that you should keep an eye on. So, since it's the last day in April, here are the May releases most tempting me:

May 6th
The Falconer by Elizabeth May
My friend Ellis sent me a UK copy of this, since it came out there in... October? Something like that. Anyway, it's historical Scottish fae-fighting warrior people, and if that doesn't excite you, I don't know what will.

Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson
COVER OBSESSION. Eternal ear worm. Must have.

The One by Kiera Cass
Series, why can't I quit you?

Broken Hearts, Fences, and Other Things to Mend by Katie Finn
A light, fun, fluffy summer read! Plus that cover is just the cutest.

Rebel by Amy Tintera
I really enjoyed Reboot, and I'm excited to read the sequel sometime this or next week. I have a pretty sizeable crush on Callum.

We Were Liars by E. Lockhart
EVERYBODY IS TALKING ABOUT THIS. Everyone says unreliable narrator. Christina says it will crush me. Is everybody lying? I WANT TO FIND OUT.

Everything Leads to You by Nina LaCour
Oh, is this just the prettiest cover. This book! It's f/f and it's set in my city, Los Angeles, and focuses on the young, cool, hip side, and the main character is a set dresser in Hollywood! So cool!

May 20th
The Art of Lainey by Paula Stokes
More adorable and light romantic contemporary. Sometimes it's just what the doctor ordered.

End Times by Anna Schumacher
This book is a huge mystery to me! I have a galley of it, and it sounds fascinating. It's about the (surprise) End Times arriving in a small town and I am sure Shenanigans Ensue.

Take me On by Katie McGarry
More Katie McGarry. 'Nough said. It focuses on Rachel's brother, aka the brother of the main character in Crash Into You, who wasn't my most favorite character but could have a lot of potential.

What books are you most looking forward to this month? I left off some pretty big ones (like, ahem, the last Mortal Instruments book. That's not too big a deal, right?).

  1. Every time I see Since You've Been Gone I start singing. Same with (Don't You) Forget About Me. I'm SO excited for that one and End Times, even though I have no clue what they're about. Morgan Matson is on my autobuy list, and End Times has a good cover. Don't question my reasoning! And LAWL, I actually thought the new Katie McGarry book was called Take Me Now. I can't stop laughing.

  3. The falconer! It's my bookclub pick for next month, so I'm very excited. I just ordered my copy :) The art of Lainey sounds cute and I requested an ARC, so I hope I get a copy. Rebel sounds good & I liked Reboot, so I'm curious to see what is going to happen.

  4. I just finished Rebel last night and loved it! Callum's POV is a huge plus. I'll be posting my most anticipated May reads in my Month in Review post coming up this week, but The Art of Lainey, Take Me On, and Since You've Been Gone will definitely be on there!

  5. I can't wait for Since You've Been Gone and Take Me On! Those are my two "must buy" books from May, and I may end up with a copy of City of Heavenly Fire... We'll see on that one. West wasn't my favorite brother either (I was hoping for the Abby/Ethan story!) but after reading some of McGarry's blog posts and the excerpts from the book I think I could be convinced.

  9. I'm a sucker for apocalyptic YA, so End Times intrigues me. :)

  10. A little late, but I love this idea. I'm always looking for an easy, at-a-glance way to check which books I might be interested in every month.
