Oh, ten. You know, ten is such a strange number. And by strange I mean... tiny. Miniscule. Impossible. Limiting. PASSE. I spit in the face of "ten". TEN? NO.
Except for this Ten! I love this Ten! Sorry, Ten.
Anyway. This list easily could have been Top Ten Thousand, but we all have lives and places to be and paint to watch dry, so I cut it down. Somewhat
2014 Releases I Need With Every Fiber Of My Being
Ignite Me by Taherah Mafi (Shatter Me #3)
Warner Warner Warner Warner Warner Warner.
Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo (The Grisha #3)
Sturmhond Sturmhond Sturmhond Sturmhond Sturmhond Sturmhond.
Strange and Ever After by Susan Dennard (Something Strange and Deadly #3)
Daniel Daniel Daniel--okay, fine, I WILL WRITE WORDS NOW. This series is awesome and adventuresome and romantic (DANIEL!!!!) and has one of my favorite heroines and need now pleez.
Between the Spark and the Burn by April Genevieve Tucholke (Between #2)
This cover is not as splendiferous as the cover for Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, but oh, I wants it and its beautiful writing and creeptastic shenanigans.
The Unbound by Victoria Schwab (The Archived #2)
Wesley and Mac wandering the Narrows and catching Histories and making me swoon over the gorgeous prose. GIMME.
Isla and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins (Anna and the French Kiss #3)
Perkins is so good at creating ships that I ship with ALL THE SHIPPING PROWESS IN ME (and I have quite a lot of shipping prowess, let me tell you). So I'm sure I will ship Isla and Josh something fierce, and obviously I'll die with happiness when Anna/Etienne and Lola/Cricket inevitably pop up.
Lady Thief by A.C. Gaughen (Scarlet #2)
*embarrassing moan of book-lust*
Split Second by Kasie West (Pivot Point #2)
Pivot Point was so amazing, and ended so DEVASTATINGLY, that I neeeeed book two so I can see that all my babies are okay. ESPECIALLY TREVOR. Ohhhh, Trevor.
The One by Kiera Cass (The Selection #3)
*peers inside own brain* *notices my supply of sanity has run dry* I really hate myself sometimes. I don't like this series. I really don't. But I can't stop reading it. AND I HAVE TO KNOW IF SHE PICKS MAXON. I DON'T KNOW WHY I CARE BUT I REALLY DO. I FEEL LIKE BAD THINGS WILL HAPPEN TO THE WORLD IF SHE DOESN'T. LIKE ALL THE BIRDS WILL SUDDENLY FORGET HOW TO FLY AND COFFEE WON'T TASTE AS GOOD. I DON'T KNOW. I hate myself.
Sequels That Are So Far Away They Don't Even Have Covers Yet Because the Publishing Industry Likes to Make Me Cry
Winter by Marissa Meyer (The Lunar Chronicle #4)
THIS BOOK IS SO FAR AWAY AND CRESS IS SO GOOD AND I JUST NEED IT, GUYS, I NEED IT BADLY.
Unmade by Sarah Rees Brennan (The Lynburn Legacy #3)
*removes heart from chest* *flings it into meat-grinder* *same effect as reading the book will probably have* *because my poor babies, they will suffer* *and I will suffer* *there will be suffering*
The Raven Cycle #3 by Maggie Stiefvater
TEAM BLUE AND GANSEY (Blansey? Glue? Oh, god, not Glue) 4EVA. This book. This book. How am I supposed to wait a full year for this book? *rereads THAT ONE scene in The Dream Thieves to help me cope*
The Boy Most Likely To by Huntley Fitzpatrick
TIM! MORE GARRETS! JASE! SAMANTHA! TIM!!!!
Throne of Glass #3 by Sarah J. Maas
Whatever it's called, whatever it's about, whether it's 400 pages of Chaol sitting down and simply continuing to Chaol, I don't care. I WANT IT.
Shadow Scale by Rachel Hartman
Seraphina was one of the bestest books of 2012, and I need the sequel quite spectacularly badly. IT'S BEEN 84 YEARS.
Honorable mentions because i just can't stop: Rebel by Amy Tintera, Unhinged by A.G. Howard, The Nightmare Dilemma by Mindee Arnett, Lair of Dreams by Libba Bray, the Lotus Wars #3 by Jay Kristoff.
Whatever it's called, whatever it's about, whether it's 400 pages of Chaol sitting down and simply continuing to Chaol, I don't care. I WANT IT.
ReplyDeleteAhahaha, this describes my feelings PERFECTLY.
Also, YAY for Ten love. ♥
I'm halfway through Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, and so I'm glad to see that there's something after it. :) And your list made me laugh, I love your enthusiasm, and I completely understand all of your reactions. (I have the same ones. In public. There's a reason why I need a babysitter when I go into B&N)
ReplyDeleteMy TTT
OH MY GOD CHAOL. AND THRONE OF GLASS. I forgot to add this to my list (HOW? Probably because it doesn't have a title which makes it hard to remember), but it is DEFINITELY something I am dying to read. I NEED IT. SO MUCH.
ReplyDeleteI HAVE NEVER LAUGHED SO HARD AT A TTT OMG.
ReplyDeleteI will read a book about Chaol eating granola, I do not even give a fuck. GIVE IT TO ME. AND GIVE ME A TITLE.
I actually love The Selection trilogy but SO HELP ME IF AMERICA AND MAXON DON'T END UP TOGETHER. And yes, STURMHOND. And I say I'm Team Adam, but I always think about Warner, so...
ReplyDeleteRachel @ Beauty and the Bookshelf
We have a few in common. I can't wait for Ignite Me, Split Second or The One. The Selection series is my guilty pleasure...
ReplyDeleteRuin & Rising, Lady thief & Winter, I NEED THEM.
ReplyDeleteHahah your post is so funny <3
ReplyDeleteYES to Warner and Sturmhond! Need those books ASAP.
And omg I still need to read The Dream Thieves but 'that one scene'? Gotta read this soon! (Glue hahahah xD)
Awesome list :D
My TTT
I feel the same way about The One. Like, I think the books are not good and part of me really dislikes them but at the same time I WANT it so much and I NEEEED to know how that story ends. Even though the first two books drove me INSANE.
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah, I admit, I'm a sucker for the pretty cover too. Out of all the pretty dress covers, that one's definitely up there.
Your explanation for The One cracked me up. I seriously call that series book crack. I'm not sure why I'm addicted to it and why I need my fix, but I do. It's insane how crazy that series can make me. Oh and yes please for Ignite Me, although I think I'm the only non Warner fan on the planet. And for the record, Split Second is great! Got the chance to read it already and it will be worth the wait.
ReplyDeleteMy TTT List
*whispers* The Lady Thief is on NetGalley ... :D
ReplyDeleteI laughed about "The One"! If the author breaks coffee, I am going to be SERIOUSLY put out.
THERE'S GOING TO BE A SEQUEL TO THE HUNTLEY FITZPATRICK? WITH TIM?! *dances the dance of joy*
Your list could have come directly from my brain (although the commentary wouldn't have been anywhere near as hilarious) I have nothing to add because you've basically captured the most anticipatory bits (the ships, obv! and OMG THAT SCENE IN THE DREAM THIEVES) Also, how have more people not gotten excited about The Lady Thief?
ReplyDeleteAs you can see I can't string together rational sentences right now because you have effectively whipped me into a frenzy. I am off to my corner to rock and cry and wait and imagine Blue and Gansey living happily ever after BECAUSE THEY WILL.
lol, amazing list Gillian :D Love it. Sigh. Gansey and Blue. <3 LOVE! And Winter. Need need need. I need Ruin and Rising too, but because of Mal. <3
ReplyDeleteOHMYGOD this post was so frustratingly hilarious =)) Didn't know whether to laugh at the genius or cry at the fact that THESE BOOKS AREN'T MINE YET!! And YAY for Warner and Daniel and love <3 I am so excited for Isla, and it's so annoying that I have to wait till next year for it D: but when it comes, I expect it to make up for the patient impatient waiting. And OHGODS Split Second! I really need to know what happens after that devastating ending D: I agree with not liking The Selection too, but those covers. And Maxon. And the excitement. And Maxon. And WHY I CARE?! I think that next to ANTM, this series has got to be my guilty pleasure. And JASE AND SAMANTHA ARE BACK IN THE BOY MOST LIKELY TO?! I want it. Like right now.
ReplyDeleteFangirling aside, great picks Gillian <3
P.S. *stealthily reminds you of that scene in the Dream Thieves where BUWAHAHAHA*
I love the tenth Doctor too (sigh) But yes, it was so hard to limit to ten. There are so many amazing books coming up...almost overwhelming but mostly just wonderful since we will all be happily reading this next year. Wonderful list!
ReplyDeleteWell thanks a lot, you just doubled my TBR list! (No, really, THANK YOU!!!!)
ReplyDeleteIgnite me...OBVIOUSLY!! But I'm only on book 2 of the Something Strange & Deadly series and OMG I NEED BOOK 3. Damn me for writing my TTT before I started reading those books because I would have definitely put that on there!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with almost all of this list. I'm really excited for The One, but I fail and still need to read The Elite soooo I better get on that. Is anybody not excited for Ignite Me? I NEED TO KNOW HOW IT ENDS AND WHO SHE ENDS UP WITH (if anyone at all).
ReplyDeleteWOW such a great list, and so full of series that I am dying to read still. I need to get my hands on and read Tahereh Mafi's books, but may wait for the third book to come out before I buy them. I am also eager to read Pivot Point and dying to see how it all pans out for America in The One. Great list!!! My TTT.
ReplyDeleteYOUR LIST IS FREAKING FANTASTIC. I cannot wait for Ruin and Rising, just last week I met Leigh and she's awesome =)
ReplyDeleteOur TTT
Doris @ Owl Always Be Reading
You described my feelings about The One perfectly. I HAVE TO KNOW ABOUT MAXON BUT I HATE THOSE BOOKS SO MUCH.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful list! I haven't started most of these series, but I'm dying for Ignite Me and Isla!
ReplyDeleteHere's Mine @ Pinkindle Reads & Reviews
I still need to read Scarlet! It sounds really good! I also still need to read Something Strange and Deadly! :)
ReplyDeleteIf I wrote this post, it would say:
ReplyDeleteIgnite Me: Warner Warner Warner Warner Warner Warner.
Ruin and Rising: Sturmhond Sturmhond Sturmhond Sturmhond Sturmhond Sturmhond.
(But I don't care about Maxon. I don't even drink coffee and birds have those weird beady eyes.)
There's a sequel for Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea! Ahhhh! I didn't know! Thank you for your list! That cover for Strange and Ever After is so pretty. I don't think I'm over pretty dress covers lol

Top Ten Tuesday
I love this list. Except for all the Warners at the top. I don't love that. BUT STURMHONDDDDDDD MY PRECIOUS. Also, Gaby is making me read Something Strange and Deadly soon. Also, "whether it's 400 pages of Chaol sitting down and simply continuing to Chaol" made my day. Also, can I has Winter (and Cress) and The Boy Most Likely To now please. Also, I feel you about The One because oh my god that book is going to be a trainwreck and I am going to hate all the characters and I am going to want to facewindow because of the writing and I just want it to be over BUT I STILL WANT TO READ IT DAMMIT WHY IS THAT. *rocks back and forth* *holds Sturmhond close* *and Chaol* *and Tim*
