Book Haul, or the One Where I'm in a Wonderful Town!

That's right. I'm in New York City, baby! Home of publishing, dirty water hot dogs, the Great White Way, abominable weather, and a lot of people I love very much. (Luckily, I seem to have brought the California heat with me. Fingers crossed it stays warm! And then snows like the Dickens (HEH) on Christmas).

I'm still saving all the bookish holiday presents I've received for a gigantic present post after Christmas, but I got a couple of review books this week as well.

Half Bad by Sally Green

It took me an embarrassingly long time to see that face on the cover. But I'm extremely excited about this one, and the ARC is gorgeous. It's shimmery, and the letters are raised, and damn is the finished copy going to be spectacular.

The Forbidden Library by Django Wexler

This came unsolicited, but it looks like exactly my type of fantastical middle grade. Apparently it's about a girl named Alice who can venture INSIDE books? And there are monsters? YES.

Being Sloane Jacobs by Lauren Morill

Eeeeeee! I've been very eagerly anticipating this one. It should be pretty darn adorable, and it's about ice skating! The Cutting Edge (and all of its reincarnations) is only one of my favorite movies ever.

  6. I didn't see the face on the Half Bad cover either, not until Christina pointed it out in her vlog. So don't feel bad! Lots of people missed the face on Crewel, which I think is much sillier!

  9. I just finished reading Being Sloane Jacobs! It was such a cute, wintry read, and I liked it more than I liked Meant to Be -- which is to say I really, really liked it. Also, The Forbidden Library book looks so GOOD! I hope you wind up enjoying that one.

Also - PLEASE tell me that we will meet up at some point while you are still in NYC! I'm sorry to have missed you today (darn living so far up north in the BX!). I'm hoping we can see each other tomorrow!

  13. Half Bad! Wow oh wow I can't wait for this one. I know it'll be awesome and I envy you for your ARC, lol. Also, enjoy NYC! I heard that they got a bit of a heat wave. Even Las Vegas is colder than NYC, apparently (which, honestly, it's not even that cold here so that's saying something). Happy reading!
